My Project
The goal of this proposal is to support the students in special education, specifically those with reading difficulties, by integrating C Pens (text-to-speech tools) into their learning environments. The C Pen is a portable, easy-to-use text-to-speech device that allows students to access written content by converting text to speech. This tool can empower students to engage with grade-level material independently by accessing written materials. This tool will allow the students to promote success for students with the classroom. The primary objective of this proposal is to provide students in special education with the tools and resources needed to access the curriculum, interact with peers and reduce the barriers associated with reading difficulties. Since many students in special education have difficulty with reading, the C-Pens will promote independent learning and increase engagement with class discussions.
The text-to-speech functionality of C Pens allows special education students to independently decode and comprehend their reading materials independently.
