Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I public high school in Florida. Many of my students come from immigrant families, and many of them will be the first in their families to graduate high school. Although they face many challenges outside of the school building, my students are resilient! They truly value their education, and take responsibility for their learning.
My Project
I have included an Flugelhorn in this request. Our school does not currently own one. A flugelhorn is necessary to have a full range of timbres in a jazz band and marching band. This instrument will allow the band to continue to grow and prosper. The Covid-19 pandemic has created an even bigger shortage of instruments in my program. Students cannot share instruments even if they are using different mouthpieces. By adding this instrument to my inventory, you will grant allowing an extra set of students per school year to be able to play something they enjoy and will benefit from for a lifetime. Music goes far beyond the classroom.
