This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students learn best with the help of colored visuals and adaptable books to meet their needs. My students come from different parts of the world. I have students from China, Japan, Russia, Latinos, Arabic etc..... I am currently an English New Language teacher (ENL) that specializes in Special Education in a Title 1 school. What makes my students special is that I was once in their shoes as a ENL student. It gives me great pleasure to help students like me gain proficiency in English.

My Project

By donating to my project, you will be helping to create a collaborative ENL classroom, where I am able to help my students scaffold off the skills that they are learning with their classroom teacher. This will also help build their vocabulary along with their self confidence, as they become stronger readers. The printer, laminating sheets and velcro will help me, help my students feel successful and independent when reading. Creating these individualized books will also help my students get excited about reading, encourage "reading readiness" along with practicing their literacy skills.
