Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, I am teaching 24 students, 10 kindergarteners and 14 first graders. Having a combination class poses challenges for a teacher to meet the needs of all students. To help reach them at their individual levels and give targeted instruction, we will be doing small group instruction in reading and math. We will have different centers where students can work on a wide range of activities.

The materials I am requesting will be for implementing these small groups in my combination class.

I will be using manipulates but I also need to create the activities they will be working on. I use the card stock, printer ink and laminating sheets to create colorful and engaging task boxes where students can work independently on a wide range of different activities in both reading and math.

Our school uses great adaptive reading and math applications where students can progress at their own pace. I am requesting headphones for each student so they can work independently and quietly they are in the iPad group. The headphones will allow them to stay focused and not distract the rest of the class.
