Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Recently, I’ve seen a growing need in my classroom: more and more of my young students are showing signs of anxiety or being emotionally troubled. As a pre-K teacher, I know that before children are ready to learn, they must first feel safe and supported.

That’s why I’m creating a calm and inclusive emotional support area in our classroom.

In this space, children can regulate their emotions, explore their feelings, and return to learning with confidence and care.

With your support, I’m hoping to add:

A Calm Pup and weighted husky plushies to offer comfort and grounding during big feelings.

Zuri and Dre plush dolls to reflect the beautiful diversity in our world, not just representing the students in our class, but also introducing them to children of different backgrounds.

Sand timers for self-regulation and turn-taking, so my students practice patience and cooperation. I’ve requested four so that multiple classroom centers can benefit.

A plush astronaut for our space lovers — because I always have at least one child who dreams of the stars!

These tools aren’t just toys — they’re powerful supports for building empathy and social-emotional learning at this crucial age.
