Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our city is a hugely multicultural place and a cross-section of the future of America. My students are 83% Hispanic and 13% African American with lineages from all over Central and South America and the Caribbean. As a charter school with a focus on Sports Leadership and Management, my students are uniquely prepared for a career based in technology, sports, and business management.
As a Title I school, we often do not have the resources to keep up with a 21st-century education.
They are a smart, innovative, and talented group. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and many from challenging family situations. In spite of all this, our students come to school eager to learn and give their best every day. School is a safe place where they learn all of the skills necessary to thrive. They are inquisitive, thoughtful, curious, and hard-working. I am proud to teach such an inspirational, fun-loving, and diverse group of students. Each of them is different in their own way but one thing remains the same, they want to learn, they want to have a future, and most importantly they want to succeed.
My Project
My students need headphones to avoid distractions while taking the district and state test on the computers. They also need headphones on a daily basis to access their I-Ready, Khan Academy and Edgenuity math video learning programs on the computers, along with many other computer learning programs and aides.
Headphones are crucial in order to prevent distractions while using mathematics video lessons.
In a 21st Century classroom, laptops are an integral part of the learning experience. Being able to focus and maintain a quiet learning environment is critical to many students, especially those with disabilities. A class set of headphones will allow my students to work without getting confused with the noise around them.
My students need technology to help them assimilate and become better mathematicians. My students will appreciate the class set of headphones in order to use the computers to work on math websites that have videos explaining strategies on how to solve math problems. These headphones will allow the students to do their work without noise or any other distraction!
