My Students

The world outside my art room window is in color and my students' artwork should be too!

I teach art to high school and middle grades students in a small rural school district in Georgia.

I have the high school students all year but my middle school students change every nine weeks. Our school system has changed to a four day school week in order to conserve funds.

My Project

We work with what art supplies the students bring with them, usually pencils and crayons, and draw on pin-fed computer paper or copy paper. The school system has very limited funds for the art program. It's not that the system doesn't want to support art - the money is just not there. I need paints, brushes, and canvas boards for my students. They need to experience using color to be able to commit that "aha" moment to canvas.

You will make it possible for my students to push their artistic experiences beyond their presently limited ones.

Your help does make a difference! Color media and new materials will spark my students interest in art and in their creative selves.
