My Students
I have structured my classroom to be student-centered. They spend much of their day working together, rather than listening to me. I strive to incorporate new and fun learning experiences for them. Games like Boggle remove me from the equation, and the kids have a great time together!
My school is a suburban school in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
We are a Title One school, and many of our students speak two or three languages. We have a disparate group of kids, with a very wide range of abilities and scholastic levels.
Our students come from all walks of life, from all over the city, here in Southern California. Some ride the bus for more than an hour each way, just to come to our unique little school. Ours is a "span" school, which means we need to meet the needs of students from kindergarten all the way to the 12th grade. Our small, diverse population of students adhere to our school's mission, "Never give up on a dream."
My Project
Sometimes, students are stuck in the classroom because of rainy, cold days. Sometimes, they are inside because it is too hot outside! Either way, recess is 20 minutes. That's not enough time to play a typical board game. Boggle is easy to learn, fun to play, and quick! I am requesting 10 Boggle games to help my students to have fun while they master spelling skills.
I was raised in a family that loves word games!
I have fond memories of playing all kinds of games, including Boggle. The game certainly helped me with spelling, and I know it will have a positive impact on my students as well.
