Help Make Writing More Colorful

My students need colored paper, cardstock, trays and fun paper for their writing assignments and projects.

My Students

A few of my students enjoy writing, but many find it a chore and need to be inspired to write. At this time we have a limited amount of white paper. I would like to provide my students with more colorful choices to spark their interest in writing; this first exposure is critical.

We are a small neighborhood Charter School.

We only have two classes per grade level for a total of 220 students. We pride ourselves on focusing on the individual student and offering exciting learning opportunities. Unfortunately, it is becoming increasingly difficult to purchase supplies to do the type of activities students need in order to inspire life-long learners. I want my students to not only become great writers, but enjoy it as well. It sounds like something small, but by providing them with some colorful paper I will gain their interest in the writing activity now and in future assignments. The paper is just a way to open the door and help encourage students to look at writing in a new way while they are gaining the tools and techniques to writing well. I think this is a great way to start to get them on the road to enjoying writing.

My Project

As a teacher, we have to think of creative way to get our students excited about writing. When assigned to write about westward expansion they are going to be more motivated if I give them fun paper with cowboy boots on it than if I hand them a plain white piece of paper. We use a lot of paper in the classroom from working on science fair projects to writing letters to our first grade book buddies. With recent cuts in education, it is becoming increasingly difficult to even get white copy paper and it is impossible to get colored paper and cardstock. It is very frustrating to have students willing to learn, but no fun materials to spark their interest. We try to be creative with what we have, but this paper will take our writing to the next level.

Your generous donation will make it possible for my fifth grade students to have different colored paper, fun paper and card stock to use to generate excitement to complete various classroom activities and assignments.

In addition, I hope to show students that writing can be fun!
