Encouraging young minds to see that writing is a life long skill!!!
I am a Literature and Writing Teacher in an Urban Community. I teach every grade level from K to 8. The students at my school come from families who have financial difficulties.
The students at my school do not have the resources available to purchase these drives. These children come form low income homes so they cannot afford to buy the flash drives themselves.
My students need USB Flash Drives. We have a beautiful computer lab which students have access to however this is no way for them to save the writing they are working on. Flash drives would allow students to save their work so they can continue to work on their projects at a later time at the library, at home, in their classrooms or when they return to the lab. Flash drives will allow me to keep their work which will encourage them to express themselves through writing. This will allow students to see how their writing grows and changes over time. Students will have the opportunity to see that writing is a skill that they will utilize throughout life. Part of our school’s vision is to develop our student’s ability to compete globally. Technology is important in education and the development of writing. By supporting all phases of writing (planning, drafting, editing, revising, and publishing). It will also enable students to share their writing with other and work collaboratively. The use of this technology will support writing, the teaching of writing and will provide new venues for writing itself. This donation will benefit students writing. They will see that writing is a skill that is utilized throughout life and that good writing skills last a lifetime.
Having flash drives donated to my school will not only encourage students to be proud authors but it will also help archive students writing for a lifetime.
