This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are young individuals pushing every day to make it here in the Bronx! They show up and work hard. Social Emotional Learning is necessary for them to self-regulate, understand their emotions, and more importantly, learn how to cope. Every day our young people face obstacles we are unaware of. The youth need a safe haven. They need to know that it is okay to express themselves without judgment and in a place where they feel supported. This office space furniture will help them feel comfortable asking questions, expressing their feelings, and are not afraid to advocate for themselves.
They are young scholars that will change the world with our support of us!
I believe in them and our community believes in them. The donations to this project will help create a space for them to unwind, be validated, and recharge back into the world of chaos. The furniture and office supplies needed will help to create a room in the school that doesn't remind students of the other classrooms but rather a space that feels close to home and that will create a sense of belonging. The decorations will uplift students and excite them to get in tune with their feelings!
