My Project

This year, I will be teaching a very diverse population of children ranging from on grade- level readers to students with entering and emerging language barriers. Although I enjoy the challenge, these students need as many resources and the ability to access text in order to make gains and feel academically successful. They would sincerely appreciate and benefit from stories that they not only can tackle, but ones they can relate to. These stories will be used as a way of helping to foster a love of reading and learning. The additions to our library will be used during our designated independent reading periods, where students will select books of their personal interest, read independently or with partners, and collaborate with peers to discuss the literary elements of the text.
