My Students
Our school serves students from transitional kindergarten through 5th grade. The student body includes about 450 students altogether. The student body is widely diverse and 55% of students come from low-income families. Our school is a Title 1 school.
Our classroom includes 25 fabulous 5th grade learners.
This classroom setting includes students with different interests, experiences, learning styles and needs.
We strive to create a comfortable school environment in which students look forward to coming each day to develop their academic and social skills.
My Project
I am requesting a computer cart in order to hold my laptop and document camera for whole class learning experiences. This cart will be used throughout the day and will be a central furniture piece in our meeting area. The easel will be used for small group instruction and centers, particularly as students take the lead in their own learning and are challenged to show their work and teach each other.
This project includes easily identifiable academic items as well as a couple to promote comfort within the classroom environment.
Though the chart paper and decorative throw pillows may seem like small requests, they will help establish a level of comfort and consistency within the classroom. Chart paper will be used to showcase teaching points and big ideas across content areas. The pillows will be added to classroom chairs and a classroom bench in order to add a level of comfort as students engage in rich learning experiences throughout the day.
