My Students

I teach in a neighborhood elementary school in a beloved Chicago community. My students are ambitious, curious, risk-takers, and always cease to amaze me with their constant effort, resilience, and persistence. My students are incredible individuals who are going to make a their own mark on the community, city, and world around them. I feel privileged to teach them each and every day.

Given the current circumstances of remote learning, school has become more challenging, more exhausting, and just harder for everyone involved.

My students have been have had to re-learn how to "do school". They have had to re-imagine what it means to complete assignments, to chat with their friends, to answer a question, and attend class. As a teacher, my job has been to create an online, virtual space where they not only feel safe and supported, but where they feel that they can learn, grow, and thrive, amidst the environment we are all living in.

My students are amazing people, who have been able to work through the extraordinary challenges that we have all been presented with this year, and come out of it stronger individuals and learners.

My Project

With the Covid-19 Pandemic, online learning has become a necessity for myself as a teacher and for my students. We have had to consistently become flexible, adapt, and change in order to shift it to the online format. Nearpod has allowed me to create lessons, adapt lessons to online platforms, while also ensuring that they are interactive, engaging, and provide my students with learning opportunities and experiences. This platform gives me the opportunity the chance to teach in a much more accessible, creative, and interactive format, then I am able to do with any other online platform.

Nearpod is an excellent online platform that allows my students to engage with the content in different ways, it creates moments for them to participate, gives them opportunity to learn in multiple ways, while also giving me endless options as their teacher.

This program has been a game-changer for me and for my students. I would love to be able to continue using this platform throughout the rest of year, whether we are still in virtual learning, move to a hybrid model, or go fully in-person.
