This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I want to learn how to present information wirelessly because I want to be the teacher that can use 21st century technology in my classroom.
I am an elementary school teacher that has been teaching for 27 years.
I have taught grades K-6. I am teaching currently in an urban school district. My students are a wonderful group of energetic Fifth Graders. They attend an urban, underprivileged school. We service Title 1, Title III, ELL, gifted, and special needs students. I enjoy my eclectic group of students that vary in ability and languages.
My Project
I don't want to be trapped at the front of my classroom anymore. I want to learn how to share content with my students using technology. I feel that this will enhance my teaching and the students learning, by being able to circulate around the classroom and increase interaction with my students. Having an Apple TV will allow for remote access and wireless presentations where I can walk around and engage my audience. I have seen the amazing things that an iPod can do and I would like to learn how to use these skills and in my classroom. I want to not only learn how to wirelessly stream content and manage my PDF documents that I have created for my students, but I want to be able to use that information without the need to make copies for everyone. I want to learn the skills where I can write and mark documents and demonstrate live.
Having these items will help me teach the Common Core standards that embody 21st Century technology.
Also it will help me integrate subjects across the curriculum. Having the Apple TV and an iPod along with all the connectors and cases to protect the devices, will enhance my teaching as I learn an grow with new technology. Not only will this help me become a more efficient teacher but it will allow me to utilize new skills and make me a better facilitator.
