My Students
I work at an all girls, Title I school in SE DC. At our school we strive at all times to be excellent. These girls never let me down.
At just 4 and 5 years old, my students manage to make me laugh, smile and beam with pride every single day.
We are about to start a new school year, and I would love for these girls to come in with exposure to a wide variety of texts to hit the ground running.
My Project
Young readers need to be surrounded at all times by books. This project will give my students access to texts on their level, audiobooks for our listening center, and big book texts to help spark their imagination.
When students are surrounded by texts, students can find the method to reading that works best for them.
My goal for all my students is to have them reading ready by the time they enter kindergarten. This project will help in innumerable ways by providing them with materials to explore books in ways that work for them.
I want my students to be life long readers. This project is just the first step in their life long journey with books.
