Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Right out of college, with zero prior experience, I began my job as a 6th grade engineering teacher. I was teaching by day, taking training courses on the weekends, and attending graduate school courses by night. I had to learn (the hard way) to teach as I went. And in order to stay afloat, I had to learn fast.
My sweet mother, in a (successful) effort to inspire me, bought me a copy of "Make it Stick." And it did.
This book taught me successful study strategies that apply to any discipline of life. Additionally, it helped shape my teaching practice to better reach students.
The book is, however, directed primarily at learners. Which aptly describes my very dedicated students. Given that many are bound for institutions of higher learning, I want to equip them with the same strategies and inspiration that helped me excel in graduate school and beyond.
Your donation would help me get each student a copy of the book. It would help prepare these students for the rigors of college. Given that they are mostly seniors as well, it will be a nice farewell gift!
