My Project
We are starting a high school golf program here at our school. What makes this project unique is that we actually have several girls that have shown interest in playing. Girls are one of the most forgotten and underserved demographic when it comes to not only golf, but sports in general. Golf is a game that can be enjoyed for a persons entire life.
We are an extremely rural district with a very high poverty rate.
We were able to get approval to start this program contingent on the students providing their own equipment. This simply isn't feasible for many of our students who simply don't have the means to purchase equipment.
With this project comes the opportunity to potentially change a student's life on various levels. Fitness, etiquette, and personal growth just to name a few. Starting this program could also potentially open doors to college scholarships for many of our student athletes.
