Help Make Financial Literacy Come Alive for My Students!

My students need computers to track budgets and work through financial literacy curriculum.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Jillian's classroom raised $1,944

My Students

My students have a hunger for knowledge of the world they live in. I have never met a group of students so committed to understanding the world they live in by understanding how systems work. Financial literacy is one of those systems we dive into.

My students are an amazing group of middle scholars in Harlem, NY.

They are active members of both their school community, and the larger community. These students seek out opportunities to engage in their curricular materials outside the classroom, in their daily lives.

My Project

My school community is committed to creating scholars who are critical thinkers. In order to achieve this goal for all students, we as educators seek to share curriculum that allows students to do more than just read from a textbook. For this reason, students have begun keeping tabs of their personal budgets. We use Google forms to create individual budget sheets, as well as a class "savings goal" where we put our spare change to community use. Students will also need Internet via reliable chromebooks to interact with online programs such as the financial literacy portal created by ABC Kids. These resources will allow me to differentiate my instruction to meet my students needs. In having the mac in the classroom, students can also share our class "savings goal" progress with a Keynote quarterly report.

Your donations will significantly change the lives of my students.

They will be able to interact with financial literacy in ways that they have not been able to at this point in time. Opportunities for students to get out of the textbook that keeps their work individualized, and into a more interactive setting that will allow them to learn how to work with others, along with technology, will better prepare them for rigorous work to come.
