Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a title 1 high school with mostly under-served, minority students. Many of my students do not have access to technology at home, and during this pandemic, many have been unable to complete online work. My school has the highest percentage of free and reduced lunch students in the district, and I fear many of my students are falling further behind due to the lack of online access.

My Project

The digital divide is a real issue, and this pandemic has shined a light on another example of access issues for under-served students. My school has 83% free and reduced lunch students, which is the highest for high schools in my county. Many students at my school do not have access to basic technology that they need to do work at home.

I am hoping that through this project, I can fund 15 tablets that students can use at school and at home.

All students deserve access to the basic technology that they need to complete their school work. Many students are trying to type entire essays on their phones, often with cracked screens and no data.

I know this is a trying time for many families, but please help if you are able.
