I am currently teaching the first grade at a school located in the rural community of Burgaw, NC. We are a title one school with over 80% students who receive free or reduced lunch. I am the grade level ELL cluster teacher. This means I teach the students who are English Language Learners. I have three non-English speaking students in my class and seven ELL students who are not proficient according to grade level state standards.
It is often quite hard for these students to learn important mathematical concepts. It is my job as a teacher to provide them with meaningful, hands on lessons that will best meet their needs, but I simply cannot purchase all of the needed supplies to supplement my lessons. I am seeking funding for several math kits that will allow my students to learn math while having fun doing so. The kits include ready made centers and math games for the children to complete. It will help them learn math concepts in a meaningful way. If there is anyone out there who could please find it in their hearts to help out these children, we would so greatly appreciate it. Together with the community's help, we can make a difference in the lives of our youth. Thank you.
