Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our enrollment has gone really high. The majority are newcomers and we need these supplies for them. A lot of them do not have money to buy a pencil or a notebook; thus, the school supplies storage has run really low.
I hope that with these supplies, students feel welcomed and safe in the school community.
I always say that all students are great and will always impact the staff. In my story, my students are special because of the long journey they had to experience in order to get to Chicago. A lot of them have experienced extreme poverty and other trauma. Thus, I want them to feel comfortable and safe in this new journey with new school supplies for learning in their classroom.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
