This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our books need a home! Thanks to generous donations, we have a large number of books in our classroom library. However, the small baskets I have gathered to hold our books are overflowing and broken and we do not have any real bookcases to hold our coveted library books.
I truly believe that teaching thirty first graders in inner city Chicago is the best job anyone could have!
My students face a number of challenges - poverty, crime, struggling with learning English. Nevertheless, they are passionate learners who work hard and absolutely love to read!
My Project
Two large, sturdy bookcases would help my students be able to find books quickly and easily while standing up to years of wear and tear. Although my young readers love to check out new books each week, finding books in our too-full baskets can be quite a challenge. The book bins I am requesting are large enough to easily hold big picture books and will enable me to place our books facing out, enticing my students with easily visible covers.
With your generous donation, our classroom will soon have a home for all our well-loved books.
Our library will become more organized and student-friendly while also motivating students to read. Thank you for your support!
