Help Little Scientists Learn Their Best!

My Students

I work with amazing students at my school. As an elementary science specialist, I have the awesome opportunity to turn kids into scientists starting in kindergarten. I work with students from K-6th grade, many of them low income, English language learners and/or differently abled. We have a special deaf and hard of hearing program at our school, and I am so privileged to get to work with those students as well, engaging them in the mysteries and wonders of science.

When I take a student's natural curiosity about the world around them and turn it into a lifelong passion for science, I know I've done my job.

Students return to class week after week telling me, "I love science!"

My Project

I have some old materials in my room that really need to be replaced. These clear plastic graduated cylinders are great for doing exciting science experiments such as Elephant's Toothpaste and Homemade Lava Lamp! These are fun experiments that demonstrate chemical reactions during our physical sciences unit. The white boards and markers are used for student engagement. Instead of just picking one student to call on, I can do a quick formative assessment by having all students do a problem or write a response on their board and show it to me.

I need materials in my room to keep students engaged, excited, and to help them learn their best.
