This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When you are one of our students, you are part of the family. Our school has a tradition of pride and excellence, as well as a tight-knit community. Our students love to participate in learning opportunities of all kinds, including our book clubs and literacy experiences that deepen their knowledge and connect them with others, their community, and with history.
My Project
Every day requests from my students pour into the library! These books are guaranteed to be read and multiple times! With all these requests, I am trying to keep up! This cart is filled up with book requests and topic requests from our students. Specifically, this new book The Firekeeper's Daughter is getting rave reviews from our readers. Tis book is written by and about a Native woman. We need to up out representation of Native authors and books with Native characters, especially when its a book's main character. I want to use the class set to read with our High School book club as well and offer it as an option to English and English Language Learners reading classes. Can't wait to read it with the group!
