I teach twenty-one wonderful students in an all day Kindergarten classroom in a high-need community.
They are a beautiful, multi-cultural group of children with differing abilities. My classroom is hands- and brains-on, and we love to learn from one another and through music. We love to sing and dance. My goal is to inspire my students to believe in themselves and become lifelong learners. They have made my life brighter, and I would like to brighten theirs in return!
My Project
It is extremely difficult to find reading books for students reading on kindergarten and first grade levels that contain all the elements of a story with interesting characters and settings. It is for this reason, I am requesting the King School Series books. My students with autism and cultural and linguistic diversity will be able to use these books to practice fluency and comprehension. Since this series comes with multiple copies of each book, the students will be able to work together as they read and re-read these books. All the while, they will gain confidence and build social skills.
My students need your help to become successful readers.
In Ohio, school budgets continue to be stretched thinner and thinner. For that reason, classroom teachers are not able to purchase resources such as these. It is only with your help that my students will be able to reach their full potential! They are wonderful kids, and they deserve the very best materials!
