We need supplies to build robotic technology and help us our various science olympiad events.

About My Students
Brian, Vincent, and 65 other students are part of a very underfunded science olympiad team in a New York City public school. The school has limited funding for the team and the team has said that they have trouble advancing when there is a lack of money to purchase supples for events such as robotic arms and other technology events.
The students are very driven and work after school almost everyday to build projects from almost nothing. For example, last year students built wheels from recycled CDs and a rubber band. The team is in desperate need of funding to perform well.
The students placed 3rd regionally in NYC with a very small budget. They hope to advance to the state and national level--something that the school was never able do to because of budget restrictions. They hope that funding science olympiad's most needed items will help.
Students develop multiple skills through this project. They get the tools to build robotic arms and small robotic cars. They learn to apply their understanding of physics (torque, centripetal acceleration). They learn to maximize on their understanding of the sciences to make and innovate in the context of science olympiad.
In addition, students work in teams to build these materials. Hence, they develop teamwork and determination. They learn to critique their own designs and redesign to enhance performance of their robotic vehicles.
In addition, they get supplies to further their understanding of geology and utilize real life rocks to study from. Students learn on multiple levels to problem solve problems in the real world.
In Their Own Words
We are trying to get supplies to fund our technology events for science olympiad. We want to build robots in teams and have fun along the way. We want to get supplies to work with because we usually don't have funding for the supplies we need. With the supplies we need we can probably get further in the events we work on.
I try to help my peers improve their events. I will help distribute and put them to good use. I think that it's important to lead and make sure everyone gets what they need. I think seeking funding is important. We are learning to reach out and try to get it. I think it's important.
This project is very important to me and my school. It allows us to get supplies for a team that has been traditionally underfunded. This way, we can get what we need to do better in competitions. My friends spend a lot of time trying to work with what we have, which is sometimes just not enough.
