The above quote could not ring more true with the students I see on a daily basis.
Imagine a world where your lack of communication skills impeded on your ability to express yourself and comprehend what others say or even understand a good book. As a speech/language therapist, I want to have all the materials possible to help my students to overcome these obstacles.
My students come from low-income households, many of which whose only exposure to English is during the school day. A receptive and/or expressive language disorder and the lack of English language exposure outside of the 8 hours they spend at school does not make for a very good combination. In fact, it severely impacts my students' ability to hold on to the information they learn in speech and language therapy. Please help me help my students achieve their speech and language goals.
My Project
The materials for this project are all geared to address the speech and language difficulties my students present with. They are all language oriented and will help to make their experience in speech and language therapy entertaining yet PRODUCTIVE!
As a speech and language therapist going into my third year of teaching, I do not have the monetary means to buy all the materials I would love to have for my students.
Getting these materials would help to build my resources to facilitate my students' learning and help them to reach their goals. I love my students. I love what I do and I want to do all that I can to help my students succeed.
