My Project

Creating well-rounded student musicians is a process that takes a multi-faceted approach which includes providing every kid with opportunities to perform music in a variety of performance ensembles and settings. For many years now, the students in my band program haven't had opportunities to perform music in groups outside of the main band class they meet with every day during the school year. While this still gives them valuable opportunities to perform, it does not give me a chance to help them learn & experience music in small and/or solo groups. One of my main objectives as I continue to work towards the overall growth of the band program at my school is to begin providing students with small/solo group performance opportunities.

My main goal to fix this deficiency is to implement a solo/small group festival for my students to work towards performing in.

One of the biggest hurdles I face in making this goal a reality is the lack of access my band students currently have to music which was written for them to perform in small groups instead of together as a band. There are lots of printed music collections for solo and small group performances nowadays. I simply need help in procuring the funds to purchase some of these music books for our program.

By choosing to donate towards this project today, you can help me provide new performance opportunities for the kids in my band classes during this upcoming school year as well as the countless number of kids who will be a part of our program in the future as well. With your help, I truly believe that I can continue molding our band program into something that alters the lives of kids for many years to come!
