Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Year after year, my students have walked into the school building and our classroom with smiles eager to learn. This year, the smiles will be there but with added concerns due to the pandemic we are experiencing. The welcoming hugs won't be there. What will be there are our sincere smiles letting them know we will be okay and most importantly safe!
My students are all English Language Learners.
They are learning English together while remembering their native languages and cultures. The school I teach at is a Title I school, and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school is located at an area strongly affected by Covid-19.
My Project
My students need face masks, gloves, hand sanitizing wipes, 2 automatic soap/hand sanitizer touchless dispensers, paper towels and tissues to store and keep in our classroom.
Students miss school dearly but before returning to school we have to make sure they are safe.
Prior to arriving at school, during the school day as well as at the end of the day PPE is needed to prevent and clean as many germs as possible.
Staff and families want the best for our children! The only way this is possible is by giving them the security that they are entering a safe zone. An environment where children will be taken care of and looked after as if they were home with all the PPE needed.
I wish for nothing more than for everyone to feel safe coming into the room knowing that children will not lack the PPE needed throughout the day. Knowing its located within our classroom makes a huge difference and gives caretakers a sense of increased safety.
