My Project
Aloha! Our class is part of an alternative learning program on Hawai'i Island. This class has named themselves "Na Koa O Hamakua" which translates to "The Koa Forest of Hamakua District" and/or "Warriors of Hamakua."
Our program is an alternative approach to education where the student is removed from our traditional four-wall classroom and immersed off-campus and learning culturally from our lands.
During the week, we meet on campus then drive off to different community partnerships in our area but sometimes we will stay on campus to help too. Having ways for students to stay cool with some ice to chew, some fidgets to push, and snacks to chew while learning about our energy demands in general will enrich us all!
