This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 12, sometimes 13, special needs students in a Title I school on the Lower East Side. All of my students have different levels of disabilities that need to be taught using differentiated teaching.
All of my wonderful students have the desire to learn just like their general education peers.
They try hard on a daily basis and want to do well educationally, emotionally and behaviorally. They celebrate their successes and know when they need extra support to help meet their needs.
My Project
The essential supplies I am requesting for my students will keep them warm for the rest of the Winter and dry during the Spring. Many of my students come to school with no hat and or gloves. Now I can offer them a hat and glove set of their own. On rainy days, my students will have a raincoat to keep them dry while walking to school.
Many students say they don't get to eat at home so my students will be able to have access to snacks they can take home with them at the end of the day.
Hopefully having these necessities will allow my students to come to school daily without getting sick from the elements and provide them with cereal and snacks they can take home to eat in case there is no food that night at home.
