This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our future office assistants' job training has been rudely interrupted! Can you help our students continue on their path to employment?
Our students are highly motivated teenagers, with various disabilities, including, but not limited to, Down Syndrome, Autism, and Cystic Fibrosis.
Our high school is in a district with very limited funding, so many times we have to ask for outside assistance to accommodate the needs of our students.
My Project
Our program focuses very much on preparing our students for adult life, and this includes future employment. Many of our students are capable of having jobs, given the right training/tools. Having the electric stapler, paper shredder, 3-hole punch, and literature organizer, can give them job skills such as, stapling, sorting, hole punching, and shredding documents. As for the students who might not have jobs, they can benefit greatly from the fine motor and even critical thinking skills, learned from these job tasks.
If this sounds familiar, you may remember that we requested, and received most of these same items, a few years ago.
Our old school is being demolished and when we arrived at our brand new school, discovered that many of our boxes were lost in the move. Unfortunately, one of our boxes contained our job task items. This has been such a successful part of our program and we would really love to continue with it.
