My students need STEM magnets kits to fully understand the concepts and skills needed to apply their understanding of magnetism. This is a hands-on standard that needs to be utilized with opportunities to manipulate.

My Students

My 2nd graders come to school everyday knowing that they are in a classroom where they matter, they are cared for, and that if they put their best foot forward they can achieve ANYTHING!

I teach at a Title I school in Arizona where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students come from homes with factors I would never imagine that a child would have to face; yet they strive for academic excellence each and every day!

In our class real world application and experiences are top priorities. Mastering the standards is one thing but applying them as life skills is the top goal for success. Setting personal and class goals to achieve academic and personal success is a way of life. Knowing that mastery does not happen quickly and that mistakes only make us stronger are affirmations that my class live by.

Strong relationships are build so that learning academically and social emotionally can help them grow to be the best that they can be. They carry these lessons with them so that not only are that achieving excellence in my classroom but taking those skills into any future classroom or situation.

My Project

Children learn through experiences. Science can be a very abstract concept. Being able to manipulate and test their ideas allows them to create the confidence to push the limits of their thinking and ideas about the world around them. The study and understanding of magnetism can only truly be learned through experience. I want my students to be able to gain real world experience and knowledge through magnet kits and experiments to enrich their science experience.

This generous donation to this project would give my students an opportunity to have multiple scientific experiences at an age where concrete experiences help build the early childhood mind.

Many of these students come from homes where novel experiences and prior knowledge is primary built within the classroom as their lives are built on family survival. I would like to build a classroom where children can learn through an experience they will never forget.

In conclusion, we live in a world where STEM how to become an integrated part of learning. I would like to integrate more stem into the classroom as this will help increase College and Career Readiness from Real World experience as they eventually move on into their real world careers.
