This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach Art to 9th-grade students in a STEM-focused high school. My class focuses on observation, conceptual development, and representation of data. Students in my class will spend lots of time on papercraft, printmaking, zines, and sketchbooks.
One common need for all of these projects is to safely cut their projects, whether trimming a linoleum block or cleaning up the edges of a sketchbook they have just bound.
We currently have a class set of Exacto Knives, but these are dangerous tools with long scalpel blades and a tendency to roll across the table. I want my students to have these high-quality Olfa cutters with retractable blades. This is a much safer choice for my kids.
