My students need a projector to expose them to Louisiana that exists outside their community.

My Students
Imagine studying Louisiana history when you have never left your neighborhood. My students are actively engaged in learning about the history of their home state from European explorers to Hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately, there is only so much that a textbook can teach them.
I teach at a charter school where over 85% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch.
Our students are bright and eager to learn, but they often come to my classroom several grade levels behind. Their pressing academic needs make our class time that much more precious. Therefore, we must maximize each minute of instruction to ensure that students are prepared to succeed academically. Your donation will help prepare my students by allowing them to access the aspects of Louisiana history.
My Project
When I find a clip that explains the explorers' path or a map that illustrates population density, 25 students must crowd around my desk to look at the small screen. This projector will allow students even in the back row to view these clips and maps from their seat. Additionally, this projector will allow me to create a PowerPoint of their guided notes for class. Instead of students squirming while I write the notes on the projector, we will be able to efficiently move through this portion of the lesson.
Please bring Louisiana history into our classroom.
Your gift will provide an opportunity for some of the smallest citizens of Louisiana to learn more about their home state. My students need to see that history and learning does happen outside textbooks.
