I teach a variety of students from kindergarten to 5th grade.

They are eager to learn, but we do not have enough adequate materials to keep their interest. I need to awaken their interest in reading which is clearly a struggle now. I teach in a Title I school where there has been a lack of high quality instructional materials. But this can change with your help.

My Project

With these resources my students will be able to build a strong foundation for reading. The timers will keep them engaged and assist them with checking their fluency rates while working with the fluency and comprehension kit. The fluency and comprehension kit will also help them with inferencing and recalling details. That contributes to two major components of reading. Although I teach a variety of students from kindergarten to 5th grade they all need help with phonics. The phonics center will help my students learn how to spell 3 letter words, word build, and blend sounds.

This project will motivate my students during reading.

Reading to most of them is a just seeing a lot words and not necessarily knowing what those words mean. This comes from a reading foundation that was not built firmly. With your help I can change this. Meaningful, simple, lively materials grab their attention and command them to think about what they see and understand it. They would love the empowerment of being accountable for their learning.
