it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As counselors continue to strive for an inclusive and supportive learning environment, we need the tools to help. Fidget tools and a user-friendly self-referral process for our school counseling services are just the beginning. These tools greatly benefit our students by addressing diverse emotional and sensory needs and facilitating access to counseling when necessary.
Fidget tools, such as stress balls, fidget spinners, and sensory aids, have been shown to be effective in helping students manage stress, anxiety, and restlessness.
These tools can provide a discreet outlet for students who may have difficulty focusing or managing their emotions. By incorporating them into our classrooms and common areas, we can create a more inclusive learning environment where students of all abilities feel supported. When counseling visits for dysregulation occur, visual timers will help our youngest students understand the transition from reset time with the counselor, to back to the classroom with our friends.
It is also crucial to provide students with an accessible and confidential means of seeking support when they feel the need. The ballot boxes will help us provide a means for students to seek help in the counselor's office and will be stationed in other prominent locations around the school.
