Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students need new headphones! The headphones we currently have are not durable and the kids complain that they are uncomfortable. By the end of school testing I was scrambling to find enough working headphones to complete the tests. My students with disabilities or that require accommodations were not wanting to wear them due to discomfort.
Comfortable and durable headphones are an invaluable tool for disabled and those with learning delays.
Without them, it makes it very hard to provide many of their accommodations without a teacher being with them constantly which is just not a possibility. The rest of the students need headphones to use programs such as LEXIA that are shown through data to significantly improve student reading outcomes.
Without community help, funds to buy these headphones will have to come from my yearly classroom budget and likely personal funds that need to be used for other supplies to make this year a success.
