This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have known and taught all of the students in my school since they were in the 6th grade, and now they are all back at school for the first time in 18 months! It has been that long since they held books in their hands, and probably longer since they were brand new and hand-picked by them. I would love for them all to start off this school year with a book of their choice!
My Project
After an incredibly long time away from the classroom, I am hoping to help restock our bookshelves for the few students who are in-person learning, but more for the students who will return in September. To not be able to hold a book from one's classroom or share and recommend it to a friend for such a long period of time is still hard to believe. I know students would love that and a classroom full of brand new books will energize and inspire them to check them out, share them with friends, and explore new stories again!
