This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a jail and do not get to be outside in the fresh air, or around any living things. They wanted a fish tank, and the wonderful donors at Donors Choose supported them with this wish. They now want to be able to refresh the tank filters.
My students are all in jail, awaiting court.
Some have been locked up for several years, others for just a few weeks. My students are incredibly smart, warm, and caring individuals who love to care for living things. Indeed, when we planted seedlings, they cared for the little seeds with such diligence and care. My students come from very challenging backgrounds. Most grew up in poverty and they are under a huge amount of stress and pain during their incarceration.
My Project
My students want to bring life to juvenile hall. They want to prepare for their AP Biology class, so they will be prepared for college. They also want to learn about marine life using our new aquarium, and they would like to care for living things. The resources we are requesting will help us maintain a thriving environment for my students to look after.
My students want to change their lives.
Everyone deserves a second chance. Please help my students learn about Biology, while simultaneously learning how to care for other living things. It is our hope that in doing so, they will learn to care for themselves as well. ABC Family, please help.
