I teach First Grade at a Charter School in a very low income district in New York. My students work very hard and deserve every advantage we can give them!
I have several students in my class who struggle to sit still during lessons. We have tried many approaches to help them focus, and the one that seems to work the best is a little squishy ball for them to hold while sitting on their mats.
I bought two of these balls, but tragically one broke. There are many students in my class who need it, so they all take turns holding this one ball. This is almost as distracting for the other students as watching them wiggle.
If we had enough for everyone who needs them, it would not only help those students focus, but also all of the others in the class who are distracted by the squirming. With your help, an entire First Grade class will be able to learn without disruption!
