My Students

Remember how much fun you had with your mom shopping for back to school supplies? All the neat things you would throw in your cart? Remember the extra supplies you didn't really need that mom always got you? Well my little first graders can not afford the chance to go shopping for any school supplies.

My students are inner city smarties!

Despite all the hardships in their little lives, they come to school with smiles on their faces. My students are from low-income homes, where many parents work two/three jobs, and the kids are home taking care of each other. Many do not have two parent homes. Most of my students are from immigrant families struggling to survive in our country. Despite it all, my students bring their little smiles to school everyday. Even when things seem to be falling apart for them at home, they come to school eager to learn, and have fun!

My Project

I have requested paper, notebooks, pencils, erasers, and dry erase markers to fill my students' back to school bags. These supplies will help us learn all year! The notebooks will go to use for our journal writing. Students will be able to write and draw every morning. What better way to become a writer than to illustrate as well! This is why we also need the write and draw paper, for the times when we publish our work and create our books. We need pencils to write with, and erasers to erase all of our little oh oh's. We need dry erase markers and erasers for our mini dry erase boards. We use these instead of paper when we are learning math, reading, science or just about anything! All of our school supplies will be put to good use all year long!

Your help will go a long way in fulfilling my little first graders back to school baggies.

What better way to start the year, then taking away some of the anxiety from my little ones for not having school supplies. Will you help put a smile on each little first grader's face? Will you put a back to school baggie on every table this year? Please help us!
