My Students
Although gentrification brings economic growth to a once poverty stricken community, it also can displace families and create larger economic gaps amongst citizens. Dumbo, Brooklyn is one of the fastest growing gentrified neighborhoods in NYC. Some of my students have boundless opportunities while others think about when their next meal will be and if they have any books at home to do their homework. My students are in need of equal opportunities for learning, abundant amount of books, and endless love!
My Project
So often our students and families voice needing more educational material at home to work with their child on. By providing our classroom with a working printer it will help with lesson planning as well as giving my students access to print and take home any educational material that will best provide extra supports at home to further their learning!
The iPad will give students the ability to explore different types of learning online.
My students show a great interest in reading and researching online and the iPad can allow them to do this. As well as build on their independence and learning how to navigate online learning. I want to help my students and families further their learning in multiple ways!
