This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a group of fourth graders that attend a Title I school in a growing Texas school district.
They are made up of a diverse set of backgrounds and include English language learners, special education students, and those receiving free or reduced-price lunches.
While they come from various backgrounds, with various needs, they enjoy engaging and interacting with one another in their learning. Most importantly, my students love coming to school, learning, and being in the fourth grade.
My Project
We are looking forward to reading "Crenshaw" this year as a class. This book has a powerful message and plot that my students will be enamored with as readers. It's an ideal book choice to share with my students as I try to instill a love of reading in them.
Help me put great books in my students' hands so they can grow as readers.
"Crenshaw" will initiate deep and meaningful discussions among my students about friendships, homelessness, and family, enhancing their comprehension skills along the way. We need amazing books like "Crenshaw" in order to engage students in their learning. Great books in students' hands leads to more earnest readers for life.
