My Students

Let me tell you about my students. They are the most caring, understanding, and motivated students I have ever worked with in my 10 years of teaching. Not only do they come from diverse backgrounds they are also diverse learners. They are just like you and me. Hardworking students that want to learn and be treated just like everyone else. They are hands on learners, visual learners, auditory learners, non-verbal learners, they need extra praise here and there. They need special materials to help them learn and they need a differentiated classroom environment. All of my students come from low-income families that lack the resources to help their child outside of school.

My Project

This new school year I am working with 4th and 5th grade Diverse Learners. This is the first time that I work with this grade level. After 10 years of teaching I have accumulated a lot of materials for the primary grades, but I do not have any for my current grades. Therefore I am asking for help in obtaining the much needed materials that I need to help teach my students. I am asking for visual aids, hands on games, and writing resources to better meet my students. They are diverse learners (special education) and need as many relevant, motivating, and captivating materials as possible to help them learn. The materials range from early reading, literacy, writing, and math. The TEACHING READING SKILLS ACTIVITY CENTER will help me teach my students that are dyslexic to pick up reading skills and strategies that will help them read. COMMON CORE MATH PRACTICE will allow me to provide my diverse learners with extra practice and support in Math, especially because they struggle with the rigor in Math. EXPLORING WRITING STYLES ACTIVITY CENTER SERIES will help me expose my students to the different types of writing and prepare them for the rigorous PARCC assessment where writing plays a huge part. THE DAILY COMPREHENSION COMMON CORE PRACTICE JOURNAL will expose my students to the different comprehension skills and will allow me to differentiate for them on a daily basis. Every single one of my students learns in a different way and has different needs. I would hate that the lack of classroom resources I have will impact their learning in a negative way. I want them to grow and be successful!
