Help Create a First Grade Classroom at Meade!

My students need comfy classroom furniture for a class library, which will also need a rug and bookshelf. A project and easel will benefit classroom opportunities as well.

Our school is a Title I elementary school located in North Philadelphia.

Almost every child lives at or below the federal poverty line. Nearly 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite these challenges, my students are eager to learn and crave structure and consistency.

My Project

An Epson projector will allow us to watch educational videos that compliment our learnings in the classroom on a daily basis, whether it be mathematics, social studies, science or literacy. A projector will also help my students make real-world connections by exploring the world outside their classroom. With a bookshelf, Alphabet carpet, chairs, and couch, my students will have a library of their own where they will have the opportunity to read independently and gain specific skill practice in literacy. Easel/chart pads will allow us to create meaningful anchor charts as we work together throughout the year. Easel/chart pads will help to track students' learning and we will be able to reference the anchor charts throughout the school year.

Our classroom doesn't have adequate storage for students' books.

With a bookshelf, we'll have the much needed storage for books that are accessible to students. With new chairs, a couch, pillows and a rug, students will have a comfortable place to call their own where they can learn to love to read! Additionally, with an Epson projector, my students will be able to make connections to the outside world and it will also allow them to experience different perspectives through multimedia outlets.
