Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All of our students have been looking forward to cheerleading. Our school is a title one campus and have zero extra curricular activities available to students. I have been the first teacher to create an after school club with zero funding. Through this cheerleading team I plan to build student confidence, promote school spirit, and teach the importance of teamwork. This opportunity will provide students with a safe place to be comfortably afterschool due to some of their parents working late. This cheer team will help to build self-esteem and a sense of belonging that they need. The Pom poms are great for the team because they will be used to practice on their own, get comfortable and then used to cheer on the student body. As they progress, they will be able to participate in competitions with other schools and to be able to practice socialization. We will be able to use all these items to look our best and represent our school with pride. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to look and feel good all while promoting school spirit.
