My Project
With the increasing number of children enrolling who have ASD diagnosis and Sensory Processing concerns we want to give our students a safe way to receive the sensory input they may need to regulate. We strive to give our students the best foundation for them to carry on their love of learning and being in a school environment at such an early age. Our students are learning how to express themselves verbally and do not have the skills necessary to communicate when they are in sensory overload or need some sensory input. This can cause disruptions to the classroom environment as well as the safety of our students and staff. The sensory room will allow for our students to receive the sensory input that they need to regulate. This will help them to focus more and be attentive during instruction periods of the day.
By donating to our project you will be helping us build a safe and healthy environment to support the sensory needs of our students.
The crash pads will allow for children who need the sensory input of crashing into things a safe space for that. The weighted vest will allow the students who need pressure to thrive and focus, the lights will be for students who need visual sensory input. All the materials asked for are things that can be used for our special needs children but can also be used as an indoor gross motor space when the weather permits us from going outside. Any items donated will be greatly appreciated.
