This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have known and taught all of the students in my school since they were in the 6th grade, and now they are all at home for remote instruction! My students and their families are all struggling in a variety of different ways, but food is one of the most pressing needs. Many of our students' parents have contracted the virus, and even more, are now out of work and struggling to provide food for their families during this time. All of our students and their families are caring, thoughtful and loving, and I hope this project reaches as many as possible to help support them during this difficult time.
My Project
After an incredibly long time away from the classroom, I am hoping to help restock our bookshelves for the few students who are in-person learning, but more for the students who will return in September. To not be able to hold a book from one's classroom or share and recommend it to a friend for such a long period of time is still hard to believe. I know students would love that and a classroom full of brand new books will energize and inspire them to check them out, share them with friends, and explore new stories again!
